During the 3rd period of a matchup between the Edmonton Oilers and Philadelphia Flyers on February 21st, 2023, Connor McDavid would assist Leon Draisaitl on a game tying goal in a game the Oilers eventually won 4-2. The game-tying goal was significant in the fact that it was both Connor McDavid’s 800th and his teammate Leon Draisaitl’s 700th career points. McDavid would score two more goals that game as he would end the night with 802 points. By reaching the mark when he did Connor McDavid became the fifth-fastest player in NHL history to hit the mark trailing only Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, Mike Bossy, and Peter Stastny. The night was yet another memorable night in a memorable season for McDavid, he would go on to win the Art Ross Trophy for most points in a season and the Maurice Richard Trophy for most goals in a season during the 2022-2023 campaign.
